Co-construction for vibrant coastal communities

Along the coast, there are many communities that face the challenge of not having a sufficient year-round population. In this project, the aim is to improve the situation by developing a method for constructing economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable housing where people live and thrive year-round. Through practical workshops where participants build smaller public buildings together, they will learn about sustainable building methods and material choices. The building educators involved are local craftsmen who will train the participants in the project with a focus on sustainability and cost-effectiveness; this collaborative building contributes to more people being able to live and work year-round in the area. It strengthens the local economy overall.

It is expected that these efforts will not only address individual housing needs but also contribute to a strengthened sense of community and increased quality of life for the region's residents. The project will be carried out in the municipalities of Tanum, Orust, and Tjörn. It is Bygdenyttan Tjörn AB that is the project owner, but the collaboration is strong between Andreastorpets Vänboende, Egnahemsfabriken in Tjörn, and Husebybergens egnahemsförening. By sharing their experiences and knowledge, they hope to inspire other regions in Sweden as well.
