Learning Place Sotenäs – Coastal Line

Sotenäs municipality invests in a new school concept where the sea becomes a central part of
the teaching. Through Lärplats Sotenäs – Havslinjen, students learn about sustainable development through practical activities, study visits, and collaboration with local businesses, researchers, and associations. Students will have part of their teaching located at the beach, where learning occurs in direct interaction with nature and makes the sea an obvious part of the classroom. The project aims to increase motivation in school, strengthen the connection to the local community, and contribute to future skills supply. The goal is for all schools in the municipality to participate by 2028 at the latest and for the concept to spread to more municipalities in Bohuslän and the rest of Sweden.
