RÖFFS Ruben Östlunds Film Festival Styrsö

Now a ”Ruben Östlund's Room” will be created in Styrsö Bollklubb's recently expanded clubhouse. An exciting new initiative to inspire and engage residents of all ages on Styrsö. Styrsö Bollklubb and Styrsö School have initiated a collaboration with director Ruben Östlund in the project with the hope of increasing interest in film production among the island's youth and seniors.

The project is deeply rooted in Ruben Östlund's own experiences on the island. Östlund, who grew up on Styrsö and attended Styrsö School, discovered his passion for film when a leisure leader introduced him to a video camera. It is this inspiring story that will now become a platform where the next generation of filmmakers can flourish.
Initially, the youth will learn more about filmmaking and later in the project, the youth will act as course leaders for the seniors and transfer their newly acquired knowledge to them. The room will be a creative workshop. By documenting and following a local hero's success journey, they hope to inspire their participants to dream big.

The project also plans to include an annual film festival where the participants' works will be showcased. This is not just about making films; it is equally about building bridges between generations and strengthening the community.
