West Coast-
promenade's
extension
Accessible new walk increases nature experience and visitor numbers.
About the project
West Coast-
promenade's
extension
Friends of Lysekil is an association full of hardworking enthusiasts who have now received funding to build a new section of the West Coast promenade that continues in Valbodalen. An existing climbing trail will have an alternative in the form of an accessible walking path made of pressure-treated wood, which increases accessibility and enhances the nature experience for all visitors. It will be a walking path in pressure-treated wood that does not have a steep incline and allows easy access to the spectacular view of the west coast. The new section will integrate with the existing trails in the area, and in total, one will be able to hike 1.2 miles.
The West Coast promenade is already a popular attraction with over 120,000 visitors in 2024. With the new, accessible path, the number of visitors is expected to increase, which strengthens the tourism industry in the area.
