Creative Open Meeting Place Härön (KÖM)

Härön's interest association is now taking the next step in further developing the historical meeting place ”Gamla skolhuset” on Härön. The association plans to improve and expand the activities in the building and thereby strengthen social cohesion.

In the project, a fire-separating wall will be constructed between the old teacher's residence and the classroom, as well as install a small kitchen in the meeting room and build an additional toilet. This is to create the possibility of using the meeting room while the apartment is rented out. Modern technology will also be installed to reduce the building's energy consumption and contribute to a sustainable environment. With these measures implemented, lectures, cultural events, and other interesting and fun activities will be able to be organized, creating a vibrant meeting place.

At the end of the project, Gamla skolhuset will not only be a place for current residents and summer guests but also an attractive destination for new visitors, which strengthens Härön's role as a lively and sustainable part of Tjörn municipality. With planned activities year-round and improved infrastructure, Gamla skolhuset will become a central point in life on the island.
